How to Get an Online Date by Valentine’s Day

The countdown on Cupid’s calendar has begun. With less than 14 days left to find an online date for Valentine’s Day the pressure is on. Not having an online date on Valentine’s Day is like being picked last on the playground or not having a date to the senior prom. You know it’s childish and shouldn’t matter, but it does. We want Cupid’s arrow to find us on Valentine’s Day. We want to open our mailbox and find it crammed with valentines. Valentine’s Day is for lovers and we want to be in love – or at least have an online date on Cupid’s big day!Valentine's Day Date

But wanting won’t make it happen. You may need to paint a bigger bull’s-eye on your online dating profile to make sure Cupid’s arrow finds the right target by Valentine’s Day. Follow these tips and you won’t be spending Valentine’s Day alone.

  • Sweeten up your online profile headline. To attract attention, keep your profile headline short, positive and catchy. Don’t be negative (it makes you seem desperate) and don’t be rude. A little snarkiness or a touch of sexual innuendo is intriguing, but crude language is an instant turnoff. Use an online thesaurus to punch up your headline and make it unique.
  • Freshen up your online dating photos by posting a fun new online dating headshot. For Valentine’s Day, go for an alluring over-the-shoulder shot or try on a sexy pout. Just don’t overdo it. Your profile photos should be fun, not x-rated. While you’re at it, change up your other profile photos. Post a few casual candids that show you doing some of the things you like to do best.
  • Give your online dating profile a makeover. Delete long lists of meaningless adjectives; they’re boring. Convey your most important qualities and what you’re looking for in a date in sentences that provide context. Provide basic information about yourself, but skip the details. Keep your profile short; about 200 to 250 words. Stay away from caps, italics and bold type and always check your grammar and spelling.
